Cuba responds to US aid proposal: US has only made declarations and has not taken any action.
On October 31st local time, the Cuban government officially responded to the hurricane aid proposal put forward by the United States, clearly pointing out that the US has not made any specific commitments so far, nor has it responded to the questions raised by the Cuban side. Joanna Tablada, Deputy Director of US Affairs at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated in the declaration that the Cuban Embassy in Washington immediately contacted the US State Department after the US issued a statement. However, up to now, the US has neither put forward a specific aid plan nor responded to the questions raised by the Cuban side during communication. The declaration further pointed out that other countries and UN agencies that have expressed willingness to provide aid have either fulfilled their commitments or are progressing in an orderly manner. The Cuban government emphasized that in recent years, during the process of responding to disasters, Cuba has never set any additional conditions. For individuals and organizations in the US who intend to provide aid to affected victims and their families, there are multiple channels available for maintaining smooth communication, and humanitarian assistance work can continue as usual.
