Ministry of Commerce: Accelerate the establishment of a green, low-carbon product, technology and service standard system that is in line with international standards.
Today, the State Council Information Office held a routine policy briefing. The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Commerce introduced that the next step will be to accelerate the establishment of a standardized system for green, low-carbon products, technologies, and services that align with international standards in order to reduce trade costs caused by differences in standards. The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Commerce mentioned that thanks to the economies of scale and technological progress of Chinese manufacturing, an increasing number of consumers around the world can afford and use "green products." Data shows that China's wind power, solar power, and new energy vehicles have been exported to more than 200 countries and regions globally, leading to a decrease of over 60% and 80% in the costs of wind power and solar power generation respectively, making a significant contribution to global climate change mitigation and green transition. Li Chenggang, the representative of the Ministry of Commerce for international trade negotiations and Deputy Minister, stated that efforts will be made to hasten the establishment of standardized systems for green, low-carbon products, technologies, and services that align with international standards, in order to reduce trade costs resulting from differences in standards. Additionally, through multilateral and bilateral economic and trade channels, China will participate in negotiations for low-carbon economic and trade rules, further enhancing the level of trade facilitation, promoting the smooth flow of high-quality green, low-carbon products and services, and allowing green development to benefit the world.
