Sudanese government institutions have entered a state of heightened alert to address escalating situations.
On October 30th local time, Sudanese Prime Minister Idris announced that all government agencies and embassies abroad in the country are on high alert to address the escalating situation in the western region. Idris made a televised speech that day, saying that in light of the attacks on local civilians by the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces in the capital of North Darfur state, Fasher City, and in the city of Bara in North Kordofan state, all Sudanese government departments and diplomatic missions are on high alert. Idris pointed out that the Rapid Support Forces carried out large-scale massacres of civilians in Fasher, constituting war crimes and crimes against humanity. He called on the international community to take action to protect civilians and bring to justice those who planned, funded, and carried out the crimes. The Sudanese government stated on the 29th that since the Rapid Support Forces entered Fasher City on the 26th, they have killed more than 2,000 civilians in the city. The leader of the Rapid Support Forces, Dagalo, announced the establishment of an investigative committee that day to look into the killings of civilians in Fasher.
