The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government is committed to promoting cooperation arrangements with the mainland on single window interfaces.
The Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and Hong Kong Customs held the first meeting of the Expert Group on Inner Harbour Single Window Cooperation with the National Port Administration Office, Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce, and other relevant mainland departments in Zhuhai last Friday to exchange experiences in developing the "single window" and strengthen cooperation between the two sides. A spokesperson for the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau stated that the government has been maintaining close contact with mainland authorities on the development of the "single window," following the signing of a cooperation arrangement with the General Administration of Customs in May this year to optimize communication and cooperation mechanisms. The focus of this expert group meeting was to discuss the latest developments and implementation of further cooperation in the two regions, as well as to explore recommendations for deepening cooperation in the next phase. Both sides also discussed the feasibility of expanding the "one declaration, two reports" arrangement to maritime trade documents in order to save time on re-entering data and further facilitate the industry. The spokesperson stated that the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau will continue to closely cooperate with mainland authorities, including through regular expert group meetings, to promote the integration of the "single window" systems in the two regions.
