Russian President's Press Secretary Peskov said in an interview with the media on the 26th that the new sanctions imposed by the United States and Europe on Russia have complicated the restoration of relations between Russia and the United States. TV host Zarubin of All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company posted a video of the interview with Peskov on social media on the 26th. Peskov stated that Russia will continue to prioritize its own interests, which lie in establishing good relations with all countries, including the United States. "The actions taken by the U.S. in the past week have been unfriendly, and these measures have indeed damaged the prospects of our relationship revival. But this does not mean that we should give up these efforts." Peskov also said in the interview that Russian President Putin undoubtedly values the sincere desire of U.S. President Trump to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, but this cannot be accomplished "overnight." U.S. Treasury Secretary Mnuchin announced on the 22nd that the U.S. was imposing sanctions on Russia's two largest oil companies and urged Russia and Ukraine to immediately cease fire. The EU Council issued a statement on the 23rd officially approving the 19th round of sanctions against Russia, which include 69 new individual sanctions and several economic restrictions, primarily targeting Russia's energy, financial, and military sectors.
