Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (the "Exchange") plans to extend the closing time of the After-Hours Trading ("AHT") session from 3:00 a.m. Hong Kong time to 4:15 a.m. Hong Kong time in March 2027, subject to regulatory approval. Depending on market developments following the extended trading session and regulatory approval, the closing time of the AHT session may be further extended to 5:15 a.m. Hong Kong time in November 2027.
The extension plan is intended to cover all products that can be traded during the AHT session. To accommodate the extended AHT session trading hours, the start time of post-trade services and the recommended system connection time provided to clients of the "HKEX Orion" Market Data Platform Derivatives Market ("OMD-D") will be adjusted accordingly. The snapshot time for mandatory intraday price adjustments and margin calls, as well as the monitoring time for position limits determined by capital, will also be adjusted accordingly. Details of the relevant adjustments will be announced in due course.
The Exchange strongly recommends that Exchange Participants currently participating in or planning to participate in the AHT session begin assessing the potential impact of the extension plan on their systems, operations and vendor arrangements, and carry out the necessary resource planning and preparatory work to align with the proposed AHT session extension plans to be implemented in March and November 2027.
