On Monday, Intel Corporation (INTC.US) rose more than 5% to $94.87. On the news front, JPMorgan upgraded Intel Corporation's stock rating from "Underweight" to "Neutral," citing improved execution following CEO Lip-Bu Tan's appointment and growing demand for AI computing that is expected to support earnings growth.
Analyst Harlan Sur said that despite short-term concerns in the market about the sustainability of AI infrastructure spending, the increase in agentic AI workloads (CPU-intensive) and the extremely tight supply of leading-edge chips should continue to drive upward revisions to earnings per share estimates in the upcoming earnings season and through fiscal 2027 (the firm's fiscal 2028 EPS forecast is about 15% above the market consensus).
