On Friday, Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) rose over 1% in early trading, up 27% year-to-date, now at $344.78. On the news front, Apple Inc.'s first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, saw shipping times slip to January of next year within minutes of pre-orders opening on Friday. Strong demand combined with severely constrained supply will make this $1,999 device difficult to buy on its October 23 launch day and even in the near term.
Compared with the September launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, where "users who ordered promptly experienced a smooth process," getting hold of an iPhone Duo this time is clearly much more difficult. Counterpoint Research said last month that Apple Inc. is expected to sell about 6 million iPhone Duo units this year.
