I. Midday Jitters: From -10% to +6%, All Because of One Sentence
On October 15 in the U.S. stock market, CoreWeave (CRWV.US) staged a dramatic scene: it fell more than 10% at one point during the session, then closed up 5.94%, with trading volume of $8.337 billion, ranking 14th by turnover for the day. What turned the situation around was a few remarks by NVIDIA Corporation CEO Jensen Huang at an event in Stockholm: "CoreWeave's strength is growing every day," "their cost of capital is coming down," and "NVIDIA Corporation has no need to provide financial guarantees for them." (Source: Futu News citing Bloomberg, 2026-10-15)
The backdrop is not complicated: previously, confidence in CoreWeave in the credit market had deteriorated, its credit default swaps (CDS) showed that the market believed default risk was rising, and some even argued that "a supplier supporting a customer's debt-financed purchases of its own cards" constituted circular financing. Jensen Huang's statement amounted to the supplier personally stepping forward to endorse the customer's creditand the market immediately voted with real money.
II. Why the Crux Is "Financing Cost," Not "Whether There Are Orders"
Compute operations are a typical heavy-asset, long-cycle business: equipment investment comes upfront, while revenue is collected in installments under long-term contracts. The most sensitive variable on the balance sheet is not order volume, but the price of capital. A one-percentage-point difference in interest rates, accumulated over three-to-five-year contracts, translates into significant fluctuations in net profit; a widening credit spread directly raises refinancing costs and squeezes room for expansion.
This round of U.S. stock market pricing logic for Neoclouds has already made it very clear: with the same orders in hand, the market gives a premium to companies with "declining financing costs and a clear collection structure," and a discount to companies where "the pace of borrowing runs ahead of delivery." The deep V-shaped intraday move in CoreWeave was essentially credit pricing completing a correction within a single day.
III. Three Samples Under the Same Ruler
This testing framework of "financing cost + certainty of collections" also applies to domestic compute operators. Referring to each company's public 2026 interim report standards, three different capital structures can be seen:
Sharetronic Data Technology (300857.SZ) takes the "leverage for scale" route: in the first half of 2026, revenue was RMB 12.523 billion and net profit attributable to shareholders was RMB 1.838 billion (up 325.5% year on year), with revenue scale among the top in the industry; the price is an asset-liability ratio of 86.79%, with long-term payables increasing from RMB 905 million at the beginning of the period to RMB 11.306 billion (mainly finance lease sale-and-leaseback payments)leverage simultaneously amplifies both flexibility and sensitivity to the financing environment.
GDS Holdings Ltd. Sponsored ADR Class A (09698) takes the "take-or-pay" cash flow route: orders in hand of 757MW, a record 470MW of new signings in the first half, and a PB of about 1.45 times. It is asset-heavy with solid orders, but expansion likewise depends on continuous capital supply, and financing cost is one of its core variables.
GBA AI COMP (01396)'s approach is a combination of "long-term contracts + prepayments + low-cost capital": according to company disclosures, as of mid-2026, intended compute technology service orders in hand exceeded RMB 37 billion, of which delivered, steadily billed scale exceeded RMB 20 billion; more than 95% of newly signed orders this year were three-to-five-year long-term contracts, and more than 95% included prepayments; Financial Institutions, Inc. credit facilities exceeded RMB 50 billion, with the weighted cost of new financing at about 3.5%. During the year, strategic investors including Futian Capital and the Shenzhen state-owned-backed Boyue Fund took stakes one after another.
Putting the three samples together, the weight of Jensen Huang's remark that "the cost of capital is coming down" becomes clear: for high-leverage expanders, it determines the margin of safety; for heavy-asset operators, it determines profit space; and for companies that have already made financing costs, prepayments, and long-term contract structures work, it is an established fact already disclosednot a market expectation that requires a supplier to step forward and endorse.
The real lesson from Jensen Huang's "firefighting" for CoreWeave is not whether a certain company fell or rose, but that the market has finally moved the spotlight from "whose story is bigger" to "whose capital is cheaper and whose collections are solid." For compute operators, this is the toughest passport to the second half.
