Alphabet Inc. Class C teams up with Unity (U.US) to build a next-generation gaming platform: make games without coding, just by talking

Alphabet Inc. Class C (GOOGL.US) and Unity Software (U.US) announced a strategic partnership on Wednesday, set to launch a brand-new integrated gaming platform later this year, aiming to revolutionize the next era of gaming. Unity Software shares surged nearly 6% in pre-market trading. On the other hand, online gaming platform Roblox (RBLX.US) fell nearly 5%. The two companies emphasized that the new platform will combine the powerful capabilities of Alphabet Inc. Class C AI, the reach of Alphabet Inc. Class C's billion-user products, and Unity's game development expertise. Additionally, this initiative will put game creation into the hands of millions of new creators and bring entirely new experiences to billions of players worldwide. The two companies noted that the core component of this collaboration is Alphabet Inc. Class C's experimental new Playground platform which launched today, allowing users (18 and over) to generate and customize playable games using natural language prompts, without any coding required. Furthermore, Alphabet Inc. Class C and Unity will launch an expanded creation experience called Unity Spark later this year, a product built for a new generation of creators. Playground with Unity Spark will unlock powerful professional-grade mechanics, high-fidelity 3D capabilities, and the ultimate flexibility of the Unity runtime while maintaining an easy-to-use interface. This will ensure the building of a complete ecosystem: creators can start with a simple text prompt and ultimately grow to the level of creating immersive, top-tier experiences in collaboration with Unity, their preferred partner. The two companies emphasized that this collaboration is built on Alphabet Inc. Class C's vast consumer ecosystem, providing creators with a global stage. With intuitive publishing tools, creators can easily reach a global player audience. Alphabet Inc. Class C will also prominently showcase outstanding works from Playground across its network to recognize the new generation of creators and inspire them to explore the advanced tools available in Unity Spark.
