The latest monthly supplement to the Hong Kong Property Report from the Hong Kong Rating and Valuation Department shows that private residential completions in Hong Kong totaled 887 units in August, a sharp month-on-month increase of 701 units, or 3.7 times. In the first eight months of this year, total completions amounted to 8,987 units, down 3,363 units, or 27%, year-on-year, accounting for about 52.9% of the full-year forecast of 16,975 units.
By region, completions in August came mainly from the New Territories, involving 765 units; Hong Kong Island accounted for 71 units; and Kowloon had only 51 units.
By unit size, completions in August were highest for units with a saleable area of about 431 square feet or less, involving 774 units.
