On that day, more than 200 guests attended the resort's opening ceremony, including Patricia de Lille, Minister of Tourism of the Republic of South Africa; Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli; Guo Guangchang, Chairman of FOSUN INTL; Xu Xiaoliang, Co-CEO of FOSUN INTL and Chairman of ClubMed Lifestyle Group; Stphane Maquaire, Global CEO of Club Med; and Moses Tembe, Chairman of Tinley Leisure.
At the opening event, Patricia de Lille, delivering a speech on behalf of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, affirmed the value Club Med saw in South Africa, which has now translated into tangible employment, skills upgrading, and development opportunities for the South African people, especially local communities. She also thanked Club Med for bringing professional expertise and international influence to the project.

Guo Guangchang, Chairman of FOSUN INTL, said this is Club Med's first resort in South Africa. Fosun hopes to bring more industries to South Africa and create more benchmark projects here that carry both economic weight and social warmth, allowing Fosun's bond with Africa to go deeper and farther.

South Africa's First All-Inclusive Resort Opens, Packing Beach and the "Big Five" into a Single Holiday

As the world's first amphibious resort developed by ClubMed Lifestyle Group that combines Africa Beach with high-end Safari, and also South Africa's first all-inclusive resort, the resort represents a total investment of over 2 billion rand and is South Africa's most important tourism and resort project in nearly 50 years.
It is reported that the resort has more than 480 rooms, of which over 400 are located in the beach resort and more than 70 are located at Vikela Safari Lodge. At the Safari Lodge's 18,000-hectare private reserve, guests can experience high-end Safari viewing of Africa's "Big Five." The project is approximately 30 minutes from King Shaka International Airport and about 45 minutes from Durban.

At the beach resort, guests can enjoy surfing on the Indian Ocean beach at Tinley Manor. The resort has also launched the area's first surf school, covering surfing, sailing, stand-up paddleboarding, padel, and other sports, with guests coming from about 30 countries and regions.

The innovative holiday programs launched by the resort place special emphasis on community impact and environmental protection. During construction, the resort created more than 2,300 direct and indirect jobs, as well as 600 permanent positions. It also provided approximately 1,500 additional jobs through suppliers and related industries in agriculture, transportation, maintenance, excursions, catering, and logistics. Among them, 84% of beach resort employees are South African locals, while the Vikela Safari Lodge team is 100% localized. Through cooperation between Club Med and the Nukakamma talent development center, more than 100 South African youths have joined the resort after training.
It is reported that the resort's development and design also fully took responsible resource management and biodiversity environmental protection into consideration. It not only obtained a Green Four-Star rating from the Green Building Council of South Africa, but also actively promotes green environmental initiatives at the resort, including CECEP Solar Energy, water-saving measures, and programs to reduce single-use plastics and food waste.
