During the month, transfer and transit passengers recorded significant double-digit growth, becoming the main driver of the overall increase in passenger traffic. In terms of markets, the Chinese Mainland and South Korea continued to perform well, while the decline in the Middle East further narrowed.
In the first eight months of this year, airport passenger traffic rose 10.1% year-on-year to 44.3 million, while flight movements increased 3.5% year-on-year to 269,900. In terms of cargo, cargo volume in August 2026 edged down 1.2% year-on-year to 422,000 tonnes. Among major trading regions, the Southeast Asian and Chinese Mainland markets showed resilience, helping to mitigate the impact of the weak performance of the European and Middle Eastern markets amid changes in the geopolitical trade situation.
From January to August this year, cargo volume from the Chinese Mainland, Southeast Asia and Europe recorded year-on-year growth of 17%, 14% and 8% respectively, offsetting declines in North America and the Middle East. During the period, cargo volume rose 2.6% year-on-year to 3.34 million tonnes. Over the past 12 months, cargo volume exceeded 5.15 million tonnes, up 2.7% year-on-year.
