By the three major sectors, in August, the value added of mining decreased by 1.4% year on year, manufacturing grew by 6.1%, and the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, and water grew by 4.9%.
By economic type, in August, the value added of state-holding enterprises increased by 3.0% year on year; shareholding enterprises grew by 5.7%, enterprises funded by foreign investors and investors from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan grew by 3.4%; private enterprises grew by 3.7%.
By industry, in August, among the 41 major industrial categories, 29 industries maintained year-on-year growth in value added. Among them, coal mining and washing decreased by 5.6%, oil and natural gas extraction grew by 6.2%, processing of agricultural and sideline foods grew by 4.3%, manufacture of wine, beverages, and refined tea grew by 3.0%, textile industry grew by 3.0%, manufacture of chemical raw materials and chemical products was flat year on year, manufacture of non-metallic mineral products decreased by 4.1%, smelting and pressing of ferrous metals grew by 1.0%, smelting and pressing of non-ferrous metals decreased by 4.1%, manufacture of general-purpose machinery grew by 9.8%, manufacture of special-purpose machinery grew by 11.4%, automobile manufacturing grew by 8.7%, manufacture of railway, ship, aerospace, and other transport equipment grew by 13.4%, manufacture of electrical machinery and apparatus grew by 9.9%, manufacture of computers, communication equipment, and other electronic equipment grew by 17.2%, and production and supply of electricity and heat grew by 4.9%.
By product, in August, among 626 products of industrial enterprises above designated size, 286 products saw year-on-year growth in output. Among them, steel was 114.75 million tons, down 5.5% year on year; cement was 129.08 million tons, down 11.7%; ten non-ferrous metals were 7.10 million tons, up 1.6%; ethylene was 3.60 million tons, up 3.6%; automobiles were 2.697 million units, down 2.7%, among which new energy vehicles were 1.647 million units, up 21.9%; electricity generation was 943.8 billion kilowatt-hours, down 0.8%; crude oil processing volume was 59.07 million tons, down 6.9%.
In August, the product sales rate of industrial enterprises above designated size was 96.8%, down 0.1 percentage point year on year; industrial enterprises above designated size achieved export delivery value of 1,435.7 billion yuan, up 11.1% year on year in nominal terms.
