COSMOPOL INT'L (00120) announced that the group expects to incur a consolidated loss attributable to shareholders of approximately HKD 232 million for the mid-2026 period, compared to a loss of HKD 56.5 million during the same period last year. Although the group completed the sale of its hotel property in the Chengdu Rich International New City project in June 2026, the sales progress of the remaining commercial portion of the Chengdu project and other development projects in Tianjin remains slow. As a result, the overall profit contribution from property sales during the mid-2026 period is relatively disappointing. The increase in loss during the reviewed half-year is primarily attributed to the impact of recent changes on the group's afforestation project in Urumqi, which is aimed at obtaining approval for development land, necessitating an impairment on the prepayments related to the afforestation project that have already been accounted for in costs.
