The Ministry of Commerce responds to the U.S. tariff on unmanned aerial vehicles.
BEIJING, August 20 (Xinhua) -- At a regular press conference held on the 20th, Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yadong responded to questions regarding the U.S. imposition of tariffs on drones, stating that China has noted the U.S. decision to impose a 232 tariff on drones and their components. China has always believed that the U.S. 232 measures are a form of unilateralism and protectionism dressed in the guise of "national security." In fact, China's exports of drones to the U.S. are primarily used in civilian applications such as agriculture, equipment inspection, and film and entertainment. He Yadong indicated that the U.S. 232 measures expand the concept of national security, impose differentiated tariff rates on trading partners, and discriminate against related Chinese products, severely harming the interests of Chinese enterprises and disrupting the global drone production and supply chain cooperation order, further undermining a fair competitive market environment. China firmly opposes this. We urge the U.S. to immediately revoke the relevant 232 tariff measures. This article is reproduced from "Xinhua News Agency", edited by Xu Wenqiang.
