Broad Growth Across Three Segments
This quarter displayed a comprehensive growth trend, rather than relying on a single business. Caterpillar Inc.'s three main segments all saw rising sales, improved order rates, and growing backlogs, instilling greater confidence among investors regarding the sustainability of growth momentum. The three segments collectively account for about 81% of the companys total revenue.

AI Infrastructure Boom as Core DRIVE
For investors, the most crucial theme remains Caterpillar Inc.s continued benefit from the AI infrastructure wave. The company stated that the 17% increase in the Power & Energy segments sales was primarily driven by the growth in sales of large reciprocating engines and turbines used for data center power generation, with contributions from the oil and gas market as well. The construction and resource sectors also benefited from robust equipment demand, demonstrating that spending in multiple industrial end markets remains healthy.
At the end of the quarter, Caterpillar Inc. held $6.7 billion in corporate cash and generated $4.4 billion in operating cash flow. This quarter, the company returned $2.2 billion to shareholders through a $1.5 billion stock repurchase and $700 million in dividends.
Known worldwide for its Cat brand construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and locomotives, Caterpillar Inc. benefited from increased equipment procurement by end users in North America and other major regions. The company also pointed out that enhanced dealer activity and a favorable pricing environment contributed incremental gains to this quarter's results.
