Palantir announces agreement with Nvidia to run Nvidia AI and Nemotron open-source AI models in a sovereign environment.
Palantir (PLTR.US) announced on Monday that it is collaborating with Surf Air Mobility (SRFM.US) to accelerate the commercial expansion of its OperatorOS, OwnerOS, and SurfOS enterprise solutions. In addition, Palantir also announced an agreement with NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US) to run NVIDIA Corporation's AI and Nemotron open source AI models in sovereign environments, focusing on serving U.S. government agencies and critical infrastructure. Palantir's stock price rose by 2.2% in pre-market trading. Both companies stated in a joint statement that SurfOS, supported by Palantir's Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) and Foundry, aims to bring modern software to the private aviation and air traffic industry. The companies added that it will provide tools for "aircraft operators, brokers, owners, and manufacturers to manage operations, enhance efficiency, and reduce costs". Furthermore, with dedicated resources being invested in solutions supporting market entry, OperatorOS, OwnerOS, and SurfOS will also experience business expansion. Ted Marbury, Global Head of Commercial at Palantir, said, "Private aviation and air traffic is a huge and growing market, but historically has relied on fragmented systems and manual processes. With Foundry and AIP supporting SurfOS, we see a clear opportunity to build and define the core operating system for the future of aviation and air traffic. Our expanded commitment reflects our strong belief in Surf Air Mobility and the future opportunities." Integration of Nemotron Model The agreement combines NVIDIA Corporation's Nemotron open source model with Palantir's key infrastructure products (such as AIP, Ontology, Foundry, and Apollo). Both companies stated in the joint statement that this collaboration allows customers to complete tasks such as "explicit data authorization, secure boundary enforcement, architecture-strengthened customer-specific isolation, data portability, erasure rights, and comprehensive auditability". Alex Karp, Co-founder and CEO of Palantir, explained, "Combining Palantir's infrastructure with NVIDIA Corporation's AI and Nemotron models will enable the U.S. government to unleash the full power of Large Language Models (LLMs), while mitigating potential security risks and rational concerns about the migration of proprietary insights into closed-source model weights. Additionally, many of our U.S. customers are already using these models, including several customers supporting U.S. critical infrastructure (both private and public institutions) - which will facilitate their aggressive scale expansion." Jensen Huang, Co-founder and CEO of NVIDIA Corporation, said, "Open-source AI is foundational for national security, public safety, and U.S. technological leadership. Palantir's intelligent engine powered by Nemotron demonstrates how open-source models strengthen America's leadership in AI - providing a secure, customizable, and fully controllable foundation for U.S. government agencies to build mission-critical AI systems that support national security."
