Xinhua News Agency, Washington, June 27th: The US Central Command announced on social media on the 27th that the US military carried out a new round of strikes on multiple targets in Iran on the same day. The statement said that the Iranian armed forces launched an attack drone in the early morning of the 27th US Eastern Time, hitting an oil tanker sailing near the Strait of Hormuz with a Panamanian flag. The military strike launched by the US military on the same day was a direct response to Iran's continued targeting of commercial shipping. US military aircraft struck Iranian military surveillance facilities, communication systems, air defense positions, drone storage facilities, and mine-laying equipment and other targets. The statement said that commercial ships can still pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The US military will maintain high alertness and be ready to respond to various situations at any time. Earlier, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reported that explosions were heard in the Sirik region in southern Iran. The US Central Command issued a statement on the 26th stating that the US military launched strikes against Iran on that day in response to a merchant ship passing through the Strait of Hormuz being attacked the day before. The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs later issued a statement condemning the US military airstrikes in several areas along Iran's southern coast, stating that it violated a memorandum of understanding previously reached by both sides and that Iran will uphold national sovereignty and security in accordance with international law.
