EVEREST MED (01952) announced that the company has reached a commercial cooperation agreement with Hainan Herui Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Hainan Herui) on the commercialization of their budesonide enteric-coated capsules in Hainan and Rui. The product was approved for market launch by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in December 2025. As part of this cooperation, Hainan Herui's budesonide enteric-coated capsules will be allowed to enter the market in mainland China, and the company will be responsible for its commercialization. The company will provide strict technical guidance and quality audits for Hainan Herui's production and supply. This cooperation will help improve patient access to the medication choices of Nephalcon and Hainan Herui's budesonide enteric-coated capsules. The cooperation will come into effect after meeting customary closing conditions. Nephalcon (NEFECON) is an oral targeted delayed-release capsule of budesonide, which is an intestinal mucosal immune regulator. Nephalcon is specifically designed for patients with IgA nephropathy, with each capsule containing 4mg of budesonide. Through a special delayed-release and sustained-release dual-layer manufacturing process, the budesonide triple-coated microspheres are targeted to release in the mucosal B cells at the end of the ileum (including the Peyer's patches), continuously and steadily releasing budesonide in high concentrations covering the entire target area, thereby reducing the production of IgA1 with reduced glycan in IgA nephropathy, intervening upstream in the pathogenesis and treating IgA nephropathy. In June 2019, the company signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Calliditas, authorizing the company to develop and commercialize Nephalcon in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and Singapore. This agreement was expanded in March 2022 to include South Korea in the company's licensing rights.
