1. Trump said the US-Iran agreement is planned to be signed on Sunday, and after the agreement is signed, the Strait of Hormuz will be immediately open to all countries. 2. Iran has not yet confirmed the agreement, but multiple parties have said the US and Iran are close to a peace agreement, and negotiations may have entered the final stage.
According to CCTV News, on June 13th, local time, US President Trump posted on social media platforms saying that the US-Iran agreement "is planned to be signed tomorrow, and after signing, the Strait of Hormuz will be open to everyone." "The agreement is planned to be signed tomorrow, and after the agreement is signed, the Strait of Hormuz will immediately be open to all countries," Trump said on his own social media platform "Truth Social." Trump hinted that the US will cooperate with Iran in the future to remove enriched uranium from Iran at some unspecified time. "At the appropriate time, when everything calms down, we will go in there and take out that nuclear dust buried deep in the solid granite mountains," he wrote. "We look forward to long-term cooperation with Iran and the entire Middle East region." Trump also issued a threat to Iran in his post, implying that if the Iranian leadership does not meet US demands, the US still has other options. He said, "Hopefully this process can be completed quickly, easily, and smoothly. If not, we have other ultimate options, and hopefully we never have to use them again!" Iran has not yet confirmed that an agreement has been reached. However, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said on Friday that the two sides are "closer than ever" to reaching an agreement. According to Iranian state media, the US and Iran may reach a 60-day memorandum of understanding extension arrangement rather than a final resolution to the conflict, in order to continue negotiations. Earlier on Saturday, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif posted on his personal social media account that the US and Iran are "closer than ever to a peace agreement," with a final agreement possibly being reached within the next 24 hours, and technical negotiations continuing next week. Trump later retweeted these remarks on Truth Social. This week, diplomatic mediation and sporadic clashes have occurred, with Trump expressing confidence at times in reaching an agreement quickly, and at other times expressing pessimism. Trump announced on Thursday that he would launch a military strike against Iran, but ultimately cancelled the action. Nevertheless, Trump's message posted on Saturday is still the closest moment to peace between the two sides since Israel and the US launched strikes against Iran at the end of February. Over the past three and a half months, the Strait of Hormuz has essentially been in a state of paralysis. This strait is an important waterway for global trade and energy transportation, and its closure has led to a sharp rise in international energy prices.
