The Hong Kong Monetary Authority held a seminar at the beginning of this week titled "Corporate Finance Tokenization: Leveraging Hong Kong's New Advantages." This seminar was the first event organized by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority specifically for the heads of corporate finance centers and related stakeholders in recent years, bringing together over 150 representatives from about 50 companies, 30 financial institutions, and several financial industry associations. Tokenization technology has the potential to increase efficiency and reduce transaction costs, and is gradually attracting the attention of corporate finance professionals. Through this seminar, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority showcased recent applications of tokenization technology in corporate finance operations to deepen professionals' understanding of this field and encourage industry participation in the Authority's projects, such as the Ensemble project to promote the development of Hong Kong's tokenization ecosystem, and actively considering issuing tokenized bonds with the support measures of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. During the seminar, participants engaged in lively discussions through two panel discussions on the application cases of real-time financial management in the Ensemble project and the use of tokenization technology in bond issuance and trade finance. Participants generally believe that tokenization technology has considerable potential and welcome initiatives to promote market use of this technology to create a larger and more active tokenization ecosystem. Next, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority will follow up with corporate finance centers interested in tokenization technology to discuss future collaboration plans. In addition, in line with the Hong Kong Government's recently announced "Hong Kong Corporate Finance Center Development Action Plan," the Hong Kong Monetary Authority will engage with corporate finance centers on other topics of concern to the industry, promote industry use of Hong Kong's financial platform, and listen to market feedback.
