NVIDIA Corporation's ally Nebius (NBIS.US) has "taken another city" by investing 1.7 billion pounds to deepen its presence in the UK AI infrastructure.
Dutch AI cloud infrastructure provider Nebius (NBIS.US) announced on Monday that it will invest approximately 1.7 billion to expand capacity in the UK, adding three new NVIDIA (NVDA.US) infrastructure deployment sites.
Dutch AI cloud infrastructure provider Nebius (NBIS.US) announced on Monday that it will invest about 1.7 billion pounds to expand its capacity in the UK, add three NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US) infrastructure deployment sites, and continue to expand its commercial and AI research and development center in London. Boosted by this news, Nebius's stock price rose by about 1% at the opening on Monday, while NVIDIA Corporation simultaneously rose by about 2%.
This is the largest single expansion commitment Nebius has made in the European market since its spin-off and independent listing from Russian internet giant Yandex in 2024. Prior to this, Nebius completed its first NVIDIA Corporation Blackwell Ultra infrastructure deployment in the UK in November 2025. The three new sites will all deploy NVIDIA Corporation's latest generation end-to-end AI factory platform technology, and the total power capacity is expected to reach 65 megawatts by 2027 when fully operational.
Nebius stated that this expansion in the UK aligns with the government's "AI Opportunity Action Plan" and will increase local computing power, allowing UK businesses, research institutions, and public services to build and deploy AI applications on a large scale.
In addition, Nebius has signed a 22 megawatt capacity lease agreement with UK data center operator Kao Data. Behind this series of actions is Nebius's strategic intent to quickly seize the high ground of global AI computing infrastructure through heavy asset investment.
Policy "headwind": Alignment with the UK AI Opportunity Action Plan
Nebius's decision to increase its investment in the UK at this time is backed by a clear policy positioning. In 2025, the UK government released the "AI Opportunity Action Plan," covering all aspects from computing infrastructure construction, talent development, to sovereign AI layout. In the past year, the UK has established five AI growth zones in Oxfordshire, Southern Wales, Northern Wales, the Northeast, and Lanarkshire, leveraging a total investment of 68 billion pounds.
Nebius's expansion plan is highly consistent with this, with the company explicitly stating that this expansion will increase local computing power in the UK, enabling local businesses, research institutions, and public services to build and deploy AI applications on a large scale. UK AI Minister Kanishka Narayan welcomed this, stating that "we are determined to make the UK the best place in the world to build and deploy AI," and emphasizing that Nebius's investment will provide businesses with the infrastructure needed to "train, test, and run advanced systems domestically."
Nebius's expansion this time is not just about capacity output, but a strategic step up based on an existing commercial closed-loop foundation. London-based financial technology giant Revolut has already migrated its AI architecture to the Nebius platform, utilizing the Nebius Token Factory to power real-time financial crime intelligent agents, while also handling the chat orchestration work for over a million customer support tickets every month.
Several companies supported by the UK Sovereign AI Fund are also developing on the Nebius platform. Prima Mente, focusing on tackling brain diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, trains and runs its biological modeling services on Nebius. The founder candidly stated, "Nebius's expansion in the UK means that we can run more experiments and iterate faster."
For Nebius, the ability to translate capital spending into tangible customer cases is reshaping the market's pricing logic for this emerging AI cloud provider.
"Growth hardcore": Revenue leaps and profits turn positive
Nebius's strategic expansion is backed by solid financial data. In the first quarter of 2026, the company delivered remarkable results: group revenue increased by 684% year-on-year to $399 million, with core Nebius AI business revenue reaching $390 million, an 841% year-on-year increase; adjusted EBITDA for the group turned around from a net loss of $54 million in the same period last year to $130 million, with an adjusted EBITDA profit margin of 32%. Annualized recurring revenue (ARR) reached $1.9 billion, a growth of over 50% from the previous quarter's $1.25 billion.
In terms of customer structure, Nebius has successfully built a core customer base consisting of global tech giants. In addition to a five-year, $27 billion strategic partnership with Meta (including $12 billion in dedicated computing contracts and $15 billion in flexible scaling options), Nebius also holds a five-year, $17.4 billion computing contract with Microsoft Corporation. These long-term contracts provide stable cash prepayment support for its continuous capacity expansion operating cash flow in the first quarter reached $2.3 billion, with cash and equivalents of $9.3 billion at the end of the quarter.
At the same time, the strategic endorsement from NVIDIA Corporation provides top-tier technical support for Nebius. In March 2026, NVIDIA Corporation made a $2 billion strategic investment in Nebius, acquiring approximately 8.3% equity, and the two sides reached a technology cooperation agreement, giving Nebius priority access to NVIDIA Corporation's latest computing platform. This closed-loop model of "NVIDIA Corporation investment Nebius GPU facility construction capacity consumption through contracts with Microsoft Corporation" is forming the most aggressive capital operation paradigm in the current AI cloud infrastructure race.
It is worth noting that according to a report by SemiAnalysis released at the end of 2025 on global AI cloud players, Nebius, CoreWeave, Lambda, and Crusoe have emerged as leaders, surpassing traditional cloud providers in certain areas. This emerging force, known as "Neocloud," is rapidly rising in the global AI computing landscape with its route of "full-stack self-built + vertical integration."
Meanwhile, Nebius is actively recruiting engineering and research talent in the UK to complement its headquarters team in Amsterdam. Today, Revolut's fraud prevention model, Prima Mente's brain disease research, and Meta's AI training workloads are all accelerating through Nebius in the UK.
