According to data from the Statistics and Census Service of Macau, the average hotel occupancy rate in the first quarter of 2026 increased by 2.1 percentage points annually to 92.3%.
Data from the Statistics and Census Bureau of Macau shows that in the first quarter of 2026, the average occupancy rate of hotel rooms increased by 2.1 percentage points to 92.3% annually. The occupancy rates of five-star (95.4%), four-star (88.7%), and three-star (87.5%) hotels increased by 2.1, 4.0, and 0.9 percentage points, respectively. In the first quarter of this year, the number of guests in hotel establishments increased by 2.6% annually to 3.673 million people; guests from Mainland China (2.743 million) and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (390,000) increased by 0.6% and 4.3%, respectively; international guests (338,000) increased by 16.0%, with an increase in guests from South Korea (106,000), Thailand (28,000), Malaysia (22,000), and India (19,000) by 15.1%, 61.3%, 1.2%, and 51.0%, respectively, while guests from Japan (25,000) and Indonesia (14,000) decreased by 2.9% and 18.2%, respectively. In the first quarter, there were 475,000 tourists traveling in groups, a decrease of 14.0% annually; due to more individual tourists from Mainland China, the number of group tourists from Mainland China decreased by 20.4% to 385,000. International group tourists, on the other hand, increased by 16.1% to 65,000. In March of this year, the average occupancy rate of hotel rooms increased by 1.7 percentage points annually to 90.8%, with a slight decrease in guests by 0.6% to 1.202 million people; there were a total of 129,000 international guests, an increase of 22.2% annually. On the other hand, the total number of group tourists in March decreased by 20.1% annually to 197,000, while international group tourists from China increased by 10.4% to 22,000.
