On April 20, the National Energy Administration released the data on electricity consumption for the whole society in March. In March, the total electricity consumption for the whole society was 859.5 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 3.5% compared to the same period last year. Looking at electricity consumption by industry, the electricity consumption in the primary industry was 11.3 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 6.7% year-on-year. The electricity consumption in the secondary industry was 570.8 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 2.0%; among which, the electricity consumption in the industrial sector was 566.1 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 2.3%, and the electricity consumption in the high-tech and equipment manufacturing industry was 105.4 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 5.6%. The electricity consumption in the tertiary industry was 160.1 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 7.7%; among which, the electricity consumption in the charging and swapping services industry and the internet data services industry was 13 billion and 8 billion kilowatt hours respectively, with growth rates of 51.3% and 40.1%. The electricity consumption for urban and rural residents' daily life was 117.2 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 5.2%.
From January to March, the total electricity consumption for the whole society accumulated to 25.141 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 5.2% compared to the same period last year. Looking at electricity consumption by industry, the electricity consumption in the primary industry was 3.36 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 7.1% year-on-year. The electricity consumption in the secondary industry was 15.987 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 4.7%; among which, the electricity consumption in the industrial sector was 15.836 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 4.9%, and the electricity consumption in the high-tech and equipment manufacturing industry was 2.746 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 8.6%. The electricity consumption in the tertiary industry was 4.833 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 8.1%; among which, the electricity consumption in the charging and swapping services industry and the internet data services industry was 0.376 billion and 0.229 billion kilowatt hours respectively, with growth rates of 53.8% and 44.0%. The electricity consumption for urban and rural residents' daily life was 3.985 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 3.4%.
