The Ministry of Commerce's business big data shows that during the Qingming holiday, the daily sales of key retail and catering enterprises nationwide increased by 2.4% year-on-year. The Ministry of Commerce monitored 78 key pedestrian streets (commercial districts), and the foot traffic and turnover both increased by 6.0% and 6.7% respectively.
Journalists learned from the Ministry of Commerce that during the Qingming holiday, many places implemented consecutive spring breaks, and consumer demand was effectively released, injecting vitality into the spring consumption market. According to the Ministry of Commerce's big data, during the Qingming holiday, the daily sales of key retail and catering enterprises nationwide increased by 2.4% year-on-year. The footfall and turnover of 78 key pedestrian streets (commercial districts) monitored by the Ministry of Commerce increased by 6.0% and 6.7% respectively. In terms of commodity consumption, as of April 5, a total of 1.526 million subsidies were received for the replacement of old cars with new ones in 2026, driving the sales of new cars to 246.8 billion yuan. The sales of new products in the categories of replacing old appliances, digital, and smart devices reached 62.845 million units, driving sales to 215.97 billion yuan. According to the big data of commerce, sales of smart glasses and smart watches/bracelets on key platforms increased by 3.2 times and 12.3% respectively. In terms of service consumption, data shows that during the Qingming holiday, sales of catering enterprises monitored by the Ministry of Commerce increased by 3.9%; sales of hotel accommodation on key platforms increased by 2.6%, with a 15.1% increase in inter-city travel, an 11.7% increase in theme park consumption, a doubling in parent-child study tour orders, and a 40% increase in car rental orders.
