This has demonstrated the artificial intelligence moat that this company possesses exclusively with military software giants. UBS Group AG gave Palantir a "buy" rating, the most optimistic target price within the next 12 months being set at $200. As of the Thursday closing of the US stock market, Palantir's stock price closed at $148.460. It is worth noting that Palantir is no longer just an ordinary data analysis software vendor, but is increasingly becoming the most core supplier in enterprise operations and the US defense system, more like an AI decision and real operational basic software platform. This means that Palantir has almost no possibility of being completely disrupted by AI like some SaaS software vendors. The most crucial signal is that the Pentagon has decided to formally include Palantir's Maven AI system in the core military level operational system, as a "formally on-record project" integrated into the military procurement and budgeting process for the long term; meanwhile, the US Army has integrated multiple collaborations into a single enterprise-level agreement worth up to $10 billion over 10 years. All of this signifies that Palantir has upgraded from being a "project tool provider" to a more strategic position closer to the national defense infrastructure. Maven is a command and control software platform deeply integrated with artificial intelligence technology that can analyze battlefield data and autonomously identify key targets. It is already the main artificial intelligence operating system of the US military; media reports have stated that in the past three weeks, the US military has used this AI operating system to carry out thousands of pinpoint strikes against Iran. Palantir's ontology layer has proven its strong moat, with a very low possibility of being disrupted by AI A recent research report covering Palantir released by UBS Group AG shows that the ontology layer achieves a core barrier that is "difficult to shake" with AI - that is, Palantir's ontology layer has proven to have an incredibly strong moat based on cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology, with a very low possibility of being disrupted by AI. "Our interactions with Palantir and its customers support the view that the additional value brought by the Palantir ontology layer is far more than just acting as a thin data semantic layer covering enterprise data, making this data more accessible (more reliable, reusable) or easier to traverse," UBS Group AG analyst Karl Keirstead wrote in a report sent to clients. "Its competitive advantage, which makes it extremely difficult to replicate the Foundry platform, resides in a) the advantages of Foundry in metadata graph mapping, being able to define relationships between data and map or link data to entities relevant to customers' basic operations and systems; and b) Palantir's ontology layer can be used for enterprise or military-level operational decision-making, it is executable, and can quickly produce 'targeted results' for those business users. Analyst Keirstead also pointed out that while there is evidence that large language models from AI leaders such as OpenAI and Anthropic can handle some core technical aspects in the software market, for Palantir, the possibility of being disrupted by cutting-edge AI technology is "extremely low." Keirstead explained, "For Palantir, Snowflake (SNOW.US), and similar software peers focusing on core operating systems, we would consider this possibility to be low, although we have indeed heard that AI big models can complete some data engineering/data pipeline flow tasks. However, none of Palantir's customers or partners have mentioned that the Claude big model is being used to DIY a viable alternative AI operating system similar to Palantir, which is likely because the data mapping within Palantir and the underlying decision-making ability system are very complex. Palantir seems to be positioned too far to the right on the complexity spectrum." Palantir is showcasing how AI participates in modern warfare as Middle East conflict spreads globally Palantir's stock price has risen by over 130% in the past year, earning it the title of "the bull market myth in the AI application software sector". However, many analysts believe that the stock still has room to rise, with analysts from Wall Street giant Bank of America Corp giving a 12-month target price of $255, ranking it as the highest target price on Wall Street. Palantir first gained global recognition for providing critical data and situational analysis support to the US government in the pursuit and killing of Osama bin Laden; although Palantir has never officially acknowledged this, the media and military enthusiasts generally believe that Palantir played an important role in this process, and Palantir thus rose to fame. The increasingly important position of Palantir in the US defense military industrial operating system is also the key logic that makes it difficult to be replaced by AI big model technologies such as OpenAI and Anthropic. In the ongoing US-Iran conflict that erupted on February 28 and has been going on for a month, this high-intensity, cross-domain, fast-paced conflict itself has fully demonstrated the most core global technological competition areas in modern warfare: it is not just about whether a single firepower platform is strong enough, but whether the data processing and decision-making speed between sensors, intelligence, command chain, and strike chain must be far faster than the opponent. Therefore, the Pentagon is about to elevate Palantir's Maven to a formally on-record project, which is essentially not just acquiring a target identification software, but institutionalizing it as a joint combat AI decision-making base: one end connects satellites, drones, radars, sensors, and intelligence reports, while the other end is embedded in a cross-service command and control system, through long-term budgeting, service-level deployments, and CDAO coordination, elevating AI from an "auxiliary analysis tool" to part of a "joint combat operations system." From the perspective of defense military IT systems engineering, this fully aligns with the core goal of the US military's CJADC2 - achieving "sense, make sense, act" on the full spectrum battlefield, that is, massive data access, machine-assisted understanding, rapid decision distribution, and rapid action within the opponent's decision cycle; in other words, Palantir's core competitive strength, rather than being more advanced models, lies in whether it can assemble heterogeneous data, old systems, algorithm modules, and operational processes into a deployable, scalable, sustainable wartime digital infrastructure. However, for such systems to be pushed to a core position, there is a prerequisite: they must comply with the US military's "responsible AI" framework, retaining appropriate human judgment, traceability, reliability, and governability. Therefore, the strategic value of Maven is not in "allowing AI to automatically open fire", but in allowing AI to steadily improve target development, threat ranking, situational understanding, and decision-making efficiency in complex warfare, while still firmly keeping the responsibility for lethal decisions in human command chains.
