Hong Kong Land Registry: Total value of building sale and purchase agreements in March reached HK$62.3 billion, an increase of 36.5% year-on-year.

On April 2, the Hong Kong Land Registry released the statistics for March 2026. In March, a total of 7,737 building sale and purchase agreements were submitted to the Land Registry for registration (a decrease of 2.4% from February, and an increase of 16.2% compared to March of last year). Calculated on a twelve-month moving average basis, there were 7,341 building sale and purchase agreements in March (an increase of 1.2% from February, and a 23.6% increase compared to March of last year). The total value of the building sale and purchase agreements in March was 62.3 billion Hong Kong dollars (an increase of 0.3% from February, and a 36.5% increase compared to March of last year).
Of the above sale and purchase agreements, residential building sale and purchase agreements accounted for 6,316 (a decrease of 5.3% from February, and an increase of 17.7% compared to March of last year). The total value of residential building sale and purchase agreements in March was 55.2 billion Hong Kong dollars (a decrease of 4.2% from February, and an increase of 42.2% compared to March of last year). The statistics for residential building sale and purchase agreements do not include transactions under the Home Ownership Scheme, private sector participation scheme, or tenants purchase scheme unless the relevant unit has fulfilled the resale restriction period and compensated the price difference. The number of searches conducted by citizens in March totaled 452,057 (an increase of 43.2% from February, and a 15.0% increase compared to March of last year).
