On Wednesday, aluminum stocks surged, with Century Aluminum Company (CENX.US) rising over 6%, Kaiser Aluminum Corporation (KALU.US) rising nearly 6%, and Alcoa Corporation (AA.US) rising over 5%. On the news front, according to sources, the largest aluminum producer in the Middle East, Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), has suspended operations at its Al Taweelah smelter in Abu Dhabi's suburbs after being hit by Iranian missiles and drones. The attack caused a power outage at the plant, forcing the smelting facilities to shut down and the metal to solidify in the smelting circuits, resulting in significant damage to operations. Another major producer in the region, Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), also confirmed that it was attacked by Iran over the weekend. These two plants are the largest aluminum plants in the world, with each expected to produce 1.6 million tons by 2025. The Middle East accounts for about 9% of global supply, with EGA and other manufacturers playing a crucial role in supplying European, Asian, and American manufacturers.
