The Hong Kong Buildings Department approved a total of 8 sets of building plans in January, including 2 on Hong Kong Island, 1 in Kowloon, and 5 in the New Territories.
In January, the Hong Kong Buildings Department approved a total of 8 sets of building plans, including 2 on Hong Kong Island, 1 in Kowloon, and 5 in the New Territories. These plans include 5 residential and mixed-use developments, as well as 3 community service developments. There were also 5 approved construction projects, which upon completion will provide a total of 63,158 square meters of residential building floor area, involving 1403 units, and 56,231 square meters of non-residential building floor area. Additionally, the Department received notifications for 5 construction projects for over-building works.
The Buildings Department also issued a total of 17 occupation permits, including 3 on Hong Kong Island, 6 in Kowloon, and 8 in the New Territories. The residential building floor area for these permits is 34,216 square meters, with 1300 units, while the non-residential building floor area is 31,107 square meters. The total value of newly completed buildings in January is estimated to be around 3.7 billion Hong Kong dollars. Furthermore, the Department approved 4 demolition projects. In January, the Department received 2635 reports of unauthorized building works, and issued 759 demolition orders for these structures.
