Based on a fixed exchange rate, the group achieved operating income of 20.9 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 6%, excluding major projects resulting in an 8% increase; the profit before tax reached 7.9 billion US dollars, an 18% increase from the previous year; the benchmark profit before tax recorded 7 billion US dollars, an 18% increase from the previous year; the basic earnings per share was 229.7 US cents, proposing a final dividend of 49 US cents per share, compared to 28 US cents in the same period last year. In addition, STANCHART announced a new share buyback of 1.5 billion US dollars.
