Tencent (00700) officially enters the desktop agent market. WorkBuddy starts beta testing today.

On February 6th, the WeChat public account of "Tencent Cloud Code Assistant CodeBuddy" announced that WorkBuddy, an AI intelligence agent that can truly work on your computer, is officially open for internal testing applications. The product is positioned as a full-scenario workplace AI intelligence agent desktop workstation, suitable for all roles, marking Tencent's official entry into the desktop Agent tool market competition. According to the introduction, WorkBuddy can understand natural language, support task assignment with a single sentence, and can autonomously plan and execute multi-modal complex tasks on the local computer. The product was already available for internal testing within Tencent on January 19th, serving over 2,000 employees. WorkBuddy can perform various autonomous operations by reading authorized folders on the computer, including: automatic batch processing of files, document/sheet/PPT generation, multi-modal content creation, deep data analysis, industry research, and parallel processing of multiple tasks by the Agent. In addition, it also includes various model switches and advanced features such as mainstream MCP Server, Skills skill packages, and high-risk command interception. Unlike ChatGPT and other chatbots that can only "chat", the core advantage of WorkBuddy is that it "understands human language", "thinks with its brain", and "can truly operate local computer files" it is an AI colleague that can "work" like a real colleague. WorkBuddy can handle complex multi-step tasks, execute them on behalf of the user, and deliver verifiable results without just providing conversational recommendations. Users only need to describe their needs in a single sentence, without any additional operations, and the work will be automatically completed and delivered for acceptance. WorkBuddy started its testing within Tencent on January 19th and has become the AI workstation for over 2,000 employees. It helps roles such as HR, administration, secretaries, operations, and sales improve efficiency in scenarios such as data processing and analysis, building local knowledge bases, content writing, poster generation, and office automation.
