National Bureau of Statistics: The operating income of cultural and related industries enterprises above designated size nationwide is expected to grow by 7.4% in 2025.
National Bureau of Statistics data shows that, based on a survey of 82,000 cultural and related industry enterprises (hereinafter referred to as "cultural enterprises") nationwide, in 2025, these cultural enterprises achieved operating income of 15.2135 trillion yuan, calculated on a comparable basis, representing a 7.4% increase over the previous year.
According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, a survey of 82,000 cultural and related industry enterprises (referred to as "cultural enterprises" below) nationwide showed that in 2025, cultural enterprises achieved operating income of 15.2135 trillion yuan, an increase of 7.4% compared to the previous year on a comparable basis. Among them, 16 small sub-categories with prominent characteristics of new cultural formats achieved operating income of 6.8253 trillion yuan, an increase of 14.3% compared to the previous year, faster than the overall scale of cultural enterprises by 6.9 percentage points.
By industry type, cultural manufacturing achieved operating income of 4.1058 trillion yuan, an increase of 0.6% compared to the previous year; cultural wholesale and retail reached 2.5267 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.0%; cultural services amounted to 8.5811 trillion yuan, an increase of 12.0%.
In terms of sectors, the core cultural sector achieved operating income of 10.3181 trillion yuan, an increase of 11.5% compared to the previous year; the related cultural sector reached 4.8955 trillion yuan, a decrease of 0.4%.
By industry category, news and information services achieved operating income of 2.1269 trillion yuan, an increase of 13.2% compared to the previous year; content creation and production reached 3.4991 trillion yuan, an increase of 13.5%; creative design services reached 2.7377 trillion yuan, an increase of 12.3%; cultural communication channels amounted to 1.6814 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.0%; cultural investment and operation reached 0.632 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.6%; cultural entertainment and leisure services amounted to 0.2099 trillion yuan, an increase of 7.4%; cultural auxiliary production and intermediary services reached 1.6073 trillion yuan, a decrease of 2.5%; cultural equipment production amounted to 0.7527 trillion yuan, an increase of 6.6%; cultural consumer terminal production reached 2.5355 trillion yuan, a decrease of 0.9%.
In terms of regions, cultural enterprises in the eastern region achieved operating income of 12.1298 trillion yuan, an increase of 7.6% compared to the previous year; in the central region, 1.7094 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.5%; in the western region, 1.2486 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.2%; in the northeastern region, 0.1256 trillion yuan, a decrease of 0.9%.
In 2025, cultural enterprises achieved a total profit of 1.3763 trillion yuan, an increase of 6.5% compared to the previous year; the profit margin on operating income was 9.05%, almost unchanged from the previous year. At the end of 2025, the total assets of cultural enterprises amounted to 2.29898 trillion yuan, an increase of 7.0% compared to the previous year; for every 100 yuan of assets, the operating income was 68.6 yuan, an increase of 0.3 yuan year-on-year.
