Hong Kong Customs: "Transshipment Trade" program expanded to Peru, can now enjoy related tariff benefits from today.
On January 12, Hong Kong Customs will begin to expand the Facilitated Transit Arrangement ("FTA") under the Free Trade Agreement to goods transiting from the mainland through Hong Kong to Peru.
On January 12, Hong Kong Customs expanded the Facilitation Plan for Transshipment Cargo under Free Trade Agreements (FTA) to cover goods transiting from mainland China through Hong Kong to Peru. Following the expansion of the plan, local traders in Hong Kong can now apply to Hong Kong Customs for a transshipment confirmation for goods transiting from mainland China through Hong Kong to Peru, in order to enjoy the tariff preferences provided under the China-Peru Free Trade Agreement.
The scope of services under the Facilitation Plan originally covered goods transiting from mainland China through Hong Kong to mainland China, Hong Kong's seven trading partners under 23 FTAs, and goods transiting from mainland China through Hong Kong to Chinese Taipei, Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Nicaragua, Myanmar, and Australia under eight FTAs.
Hong Kong Customs stated that they will continue to expand the scope of the Facilitation Plan to facilitate more goods transiting through Hong Kong to enjoy the tariff preferences provided under relevant FTAs, assisting businesses in expanding into new markets and solidifying Hong Kong's position as a leading logistics hub.
