Waterdrop Company participates in jointly building the "Jin Qing Bang" innovative model, selected as one of the world's best poverty reduction cases.

On December 10, 2025, the Global Poverty Reduction Partners Seminar was held in Beijing. The seminar, with the theme of "Strengthening Partner Collaboration to Address Poverty Challenges," released the recommended list of the sixth "Global Poverty Reduction Case Collection Activity" jointly initiated by seven institutions including the China International Poverty Alleviation Center, the World Bank, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the World Food Programme of the United Nations, the Asian Development Bank, and the China Internet News Center. Among them, the innovative model "Jinquing Bang" supported by Water Drop Company, titled "Jinyun Practice of Digital Health Insurance Poverty Prevention Innovative Model of Jinqing Bang," was successfully selected as one of the best global poverty reduction cases, and the innovative practice of county-level health insurance poverty prevention in China gained international recognition. The "Global Poverty Reduction Case Collection Activity" aims to collect original and outstanding poverty reduction cases from organizations and individuals worldwide who are concerned about poverty alleviation, in order to promote and share successful poverty reduction practices from various countries through these cases. Since its launch in 2018, the event has received active responses and participation from numerous organizations and individuals globally. In the six activities so far, over 4,500 poverty reduction cases have been collected, 637 recommended cases have been selected, involving 88 countries and regions, and have received positive responses both domestically and internationally. Mr. Carlos, the representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in China, stated that the Global Poverty Reduction Case Collection Activity has become an important global public product, documenting practical solutions to real community issues. The value of these recommended cases lies in showing decision-makers, donors, and practitioners what measures are effective, why they are effective, and providing insights for replicating experiences in new contexts. From community-led development and digital service promotion to climate-smart villages and inclusive agricultural business models, these cases showcase the creativity and resilience of global communities, continuously driving innovation. As a county in the mountains of southwestern Zhejiang Province, Jinyun once faced challenges including insufficient social assistance resources and a high rate of poverty return due to illness. In 2021, relying on its products, technology, and service capabilities, Water Drop Company, with the support of the Zhejiang Provincial Medical Insurance Bureau and the Jinyun County Party Committee and County Government, jointly launched the "Jinquing Bang" health insurance poverty prevention project with the Jinyun County Medical Insurance Bureau, Civil Affairs Bureau, and Health Bureau. The project focuses on two groups: "difficulties due to illness" and "relative difficulties in paying for illness," and uses an intelligent risk identification, multi-departmental coordinated disposal, and active social participation model to help beneficiaries rebuild their capabilities. The core logic of "Jinquing Bang" is a shift from "passive relief" to "active poverty prevention." The system actively identifies high out-of-pocket medical payers and sends them to multiple departments for coordinated disposal in a closed-loop process of "discoveryidentificationpushingresolution." In addition to the triple guarantee of medical insurance, multiple channels including departmental assistance, social charity, and Water Drop Fundraising are integrated to achieve "multi-level burden reduction." At the same time, to make poverty prevention services closer to the masses, Water Drop Company and the Jinyun County Medical Insurance Bureau established the "Water Drop Jinyun Health Insurance Poverty Prevention 'Jinquing Bang' Major Medical Assistance Station" in seven designated medical institutions in Jinyun County such as the People's Hospital, Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, and Women and Children's Hospital, to assist families in need in submitting aid applications and bridging the "last mile" of serving the people. Miss Xiang, who lives in the county seat, is now a music broadcaster and a music school assistant teacher. However, a few years ago, she was diagnosed with aplastic anemia, and the 540,000 yuan high medical expenses cast a shadow over her previously stable family, leading her to be included in the low-income bracket. "Savings were almost used up, and relatives and friends had borrowed all they could." Recalling the difficulties at that time, Miss Xiang's eyes turned red. When she was at a loss, "Jinquing Bang" backend data monitoring accurately captured her high medical expenses, and the county medical insurance bureau staff immediately visited her to assist with the application, eventually helping to resolve more than 200,000 yuan that she still needed to cover after medical insurance and other reimbursements. By the end of November 2025, "Jinquing Bang" has achieved 100% monitoring of all people seeking medical treatment in Jinyun County, automatically screening over 10.2 million people, identifying 20,000 high out-of-pocket payers, providing accurate assistance to 720 people, with a total assistance amount of 16.2235 million yuan, including 14.0425 million yuan from Water Drop Fundraising, reducing the total personal out-of-pocket medical expenses by 16.14%, and increasing the comprehensive coverage rate by 15%, solidifying the line of defense in health insurance poverty prevention with tangible achievements. In the future, Water Drop Company will continue to cooperate with local government departments to promote the replication and promotion of the mature experience of "Jinquing Bang," expand diversified assistance channels, and make the achievements of digital poverty prevention benefit more families in need. It is reported that the innovative case of "Jinquing Bang" has previously been awarded the best application in Zhejiang Province's digital society and third prize in the national Smart Health Insurance Competition, becoming a benchmark for health insurance poverty prevention. Being selected as one of the best global poverty reduction cases, the related practices have been included in the "Global Poverty Reduction Case Collection 2025" released during the seminar, providing valuable references for developing localized poverty prevention policies in developing countries worldwide.
