Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in November 2025, the national consumer price index rose by 0.7% year-on-year. Among them, prices in urban areas rose by 0.7%, while prices in rural areas rose by 0.4%; food prices rose by 0.2%, non-food prices rose by 0.8%; consumer goods prices rose by 0.6%, and service prices rose by 0.7%. From January to November, the national consumer price index remained flat compared to the same period last year.
In November, the national consumer price index fell by 0.1% month-on-month. Among them, prices in urban areas fell by 0.1%, while prices in rural areas remained unchanged; food prices rose by 0.5%, non-food prices fell by 0.2%; consumer goods prices rose by 0.1%, and service prices fell by 0.4%.
I. Year-on-year changes in various commodity and service prices
In November, prices of food, tobacco, and alcohol rose by 0.3% year-on-year, affecting the consumer price index (CPI) to increase by about 0.09 percent. Among food items, vegetable prices rose by 14.5%, affecting the CPI to increase by about 0.31 percent; seafood prices rose by 1.5%, affecting the CPI to increase by about 0.03 percent; fruit prices rose by 0.7%, affecting the CPI to increase by about 0.01 percent; egg prices fell by 12.5%, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.08 percent; meat prices fell by 6.6%, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.20 percent, with pork prices falling by 15.0%, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.21 percent; grain prices fell by 0.4%, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.01 percent.
The prices of the other seven major categories rose, remained unchanged, or fell. Among them, prices of other goods and services, household goods and services, and clothing increased by 14.2%, 2.1%, and 1.9% respectively, while prices of medical care, education, culture, and entertainment increased by 1.6% and 0.8%; housing prices remained unchanged; and transportation and communication prices decreased by 2.3%.
II. Month-on-month changes in various commodity and service prices
In November, prices of food, tobacco, and alcohol rose by 0.3% month-on-month, affecting the CPI to increase by about 0.07 percent. Among food items, vegetable prices rose by 7.2%, affecting the CPI to increase by about 0.17 percent; seafood prices fell by 1.8%, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.03 percent; egg prices fell by 1.8%, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.01 percent; meat prices fell by 1.0%, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.03 percent, with pork prices falling by 2.2%, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.03 percent; fruit prices fell by 0.3%, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.01 percent.
The prices of the other seven major categories rose or fell. Among them, prices of other goods and services, clothing, and medical care increased by 1.2%, 0.7%, and 0.1% respectively; while prices of transportation and communication, education, culture, and entertainment decreased by 0.9% and 0.8%, and prices of household goods and services and housing decreased by 0.4% and 0.1%.
