Ling Ji expressed that the integration of the automotive industries in China and Europe is deepening. European car companies are welcome to continue investing in China and work with Chinese partners to jointly promote the green and intelligent development of the global automotive industry. It is hoped that the German and European automotive industry associations will continue to leverage their influence to encourage the European Commission and China to work towards a mutually beneficial solution to the electric vehicle subsidy dispute as soon as possible.
Recently, Vice Minister Ling Ji, also Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations, held video talks with the Chairman of the German Association of the Automotive Industry, Muller, and the Chairman of the European Association of the Automotive Industry and Chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Group, Konlinsong. Both sides exchanged views on cooperation in the automotive industry and supply chain between China and Germany and China and Europe.
Ling Ji stated that the automotive industry in China and Europe is deeply integrated. European car companies are welcomed to continue investing in China and collaborate with Chinese partners to promote global green and intelligent development in the automotive industry. It is hoped that the German and European automotive industry associations will continue to exert their influence and work towards cooperation with the European Commission and China to promptly and properly resolve the issue of subsidies for electric cars.
Ling Ji shared information about the situation of the semiconductor company ASML in response to inquiries, emphasizing that the root cause of the global semiconductor supply chain disruption lies with the Dutch side. China has always taken a responsible attitude, timely implementing export license exemption measures to minimize the adverse impact on the automotive industry. It is hoped that the German and European automotive industry associations will play a proactive role in facilitating ASML to find a solution to stabilize the global supply chain.
Muller stated that the cooperation between the automotive industries of Germany and China has yielded fruitful results, with German car companies continuously increasing their investment in China and deepening strategic partnerships with Chinese counterparts. The German Association of the Automotive Industry opposes the EU's imposition of anti-subsidy tariffs on electric cars from China and is closely monitoring the progress of the ASML issue, expecting companies to resolve internal disputes through dialogue.
Konlinsong expressed that in recent years, European car companies, including Mercedes-Benz, have been increasing their localization levels and deeply integrating into the development of the automotive supply chain in China to realize the "in China, for the world" strategy. It is hoped that both Europe and China will seek practical solutions to the issue of electric car subsidies and strengthen cooperation in the production and supply chains, creating a conducive atmosphere for cooperation in the automotive industry between the two sides.
