Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) plans to introduce the same cooling system as the iPhone 17 Pro for the 2027 iPad Pro.
This move is part of Apple's broader strategy to enhance device performance and further differentiate between the high-end iPad Pro and iPad Air.
According to reports, Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) plans to introduce the iPhone 17 Pro's same Vapor Chamber (VC) cooling system in the iPad Pro set to be released in 2027. This move is part of Apple Inc.'s broader strategy to enhance device performance and further differentiate the high-end iPad Pro from the iPad Air.
It is reported that Apple Inc. will be using the VC cooling system for the first time in the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models. While this technology has already been used by manufacturers like Samsung, Apple Inc. is positioning it as a flagship feature, ensuring the device can maintain a comfortable body temperature when running large games, video editing, or AI tasks.
The 11-inch and 13-inch M5 iPad Pro models do not adopt the same VC cooling system design. However, the iPad Pro featuring the M6 chip, set to be released in 2027, will come equipped with the VC cooling system. This improvement not only enhances cooling efficiency but also provides more performance headroom for the Apple Silicon chip, resulting in a slight performance boost.
Prominent tech journalist Mark Gurman believes that introducing a more advanced cooling system could be a key factor in prompting users to upgrade to the iPad Pro series. He also notes that if successful, future products like the fanless MacBook Air may also adopt VC cooling technology.
Meanwhile, Apple Inc. plans to introduce advertising in its Maps app as early as next year, allowing businesses like restaurants to pay for priority placement in search results. Sources reveal that the design of this feature will draw inspiration from the search ads in the App Store but will utilize a new interface and AI-driven personalized recommendations.
This move expands Apple Inc.'s growing advertising business, which currently covers advertising placement on Apple News and the App Store. However, it may also lead to user backlash, as critics point out that Apple Inc. is constantly promoting services and ads on high-end devices that can cost up to $2,000.
Additionally, reports indicate that Apple Inc.'s long-rumored 18-inch foldable iPad is facing technical and cost challenges, resulting in a potential release date being delayed to at least 2029. Engineers are currently grappling with challenges related to device weight and the complex foldable OLED display, while internal debates continue regarding whether a product priced above $3,000 can attract sufficient market demand.
It is reported that Apple Inc. is studying similar products from competitors. However, the prospects of a foldable iPad remain uncertain, reflecting Apple Inc.'s trend in recent years of pausing or reevaluating ambitious projects, including autonomous driving cars and a low-cost version of the Vision headset.
