Ignoring the default impact of companies such as Tricolor, Deutsche Bank Aktiengesellschaft (DB.US) states that there are no signs of deterioration in its own loan book.
Deutsche Bank stated that despite recent corporate bankruptcies prompting some competitors to warn the market about potential risks, there have been no signs of credit deterioration in its loan portfolio.
Deutsche Bank Aktiengesellschaft (DB.US) stated that despite recent corporate bankruptcies prompting some competitors to warn the market of potential risks, there have been no signs of credit deterioration in its loan book.
The bank's CEO Christian Sewing said, "There is currently no deterioration, and we are very confident in our own credit portfolio."
Recent market turbulence has seen the collapse of Tricolor Holdings, a vehicle loan company, resulting in near full write-down of some related debts, as well as the bankruptcy of First Brands Group, an automotive component supplier, owing over $10 billion to some Wall Street institutions, which has shaken the credit market. The rapid expansion of private credit has further exacerbated concerns.
Earlier this week, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon stated that losses could be more severe than usual when the economy turns sour.
"I hate to be the one to say it, but once you see one cockroach, there may be many more," he said. "Everyone needs to stay vigilant."
In response, Sewing believes that while an economic slowdown or recession could change the current situation, it is "completely out of the question" at the moment.
