The data released by the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in September 2025, the industrial producer prices in China decreased by 2.3% year-on-year, with the decrease narrowing by 0.6 percentage points compared to the previous month, and remaining flat month-on-month. The producer purchase prices decreased by 3.1% year-on-year, with the decrease narrowing by 0.9 percentage points compared to the previous month, and increasing by 0.1% month-on-month. From January to September, the average industrial producer prices decreased by 2.8% compared to the same period last year, while the industrial producer purchase prices decreased by 3.2%.
I. Changes in industrial producer prices year-on-year
In September, among the industrial producer prices, the prices of production materials decreased by 2.4%, affecting the overall industrial producer prices to decrease by approximately 1.81 percentage points. Specifically, the mining industry prices decreased by 9.0%, raw material industry prices decreased by 2.9%, and processing industry prices decreased by 1.7%. The prices of living materials decreased by 1.7%, affecting the overall industrial producer prices to decrease by approximately 0.45 percentage points. Specifically, food prices decreased by 1.7%, clothing prices decreased by 0.3%, general daily necessities prices increased by 0.7%, and durable consumer goods prices decreased by 3.9%.
Among the industrial producer purchase prices, the prices of fuel and power decreased by 8.1%, chemical raw materials decreased by 5.5%, agricultural and sideline products decreased by 5.4%, building materials and non-metal products decreased by 4.5%, black metal materials decreased by 2.9%, and textile raw materials decreased by 1.7%; prices of non-ferrous metal materials and wires increased by 6.6%.
II. Changes in industrial producer prices month-on-month
In September, among the industrial producer prices, the prices of production materials remained unchanged. Specifically, the mining industry prices increased by 1.2%, raw material industry prices remained unchanged, and processing industry prices decreased by 0.1%. The prices of living materials decreased by 0.2%, affecting the overall industrial producer prices to decrease by approximately 0.04 percentage points. Specifically, food prices decreased by 0.1%, clothing prices remained unchanged, general daily necessities prices increased by 0.2%, and durable consumer goods prices decreased by 0.4%.
Among the industrial producer purchase prices, prices of non-ferrous metal materials and wires increased by 1.2%, fuel and power prices increased by 0.5%, black metal materials prices increased by 0.4%; building materials and non-metal products prices decreased by 0.6%, chemical raw materials prices decreased by 0.4%, agricultural and sideline products prices decreased by 0.2%, and textile raw materials prices decreased by 0.1%.
