During the seven days before the National Day holiday, over 1.28 million mainland Chinese tourists visited Hong Kong, an increase of approximately 5.7% compared to the same period last year.
During the National Day holiday, more than 1.28 million mainland visitors traveled to Hong Kong, breaking the record of 1.216 million visitors during the National Day holiday last year.
As the National Day holiday is coming to an end, according to statistics from the Hong Kong Immigration Department, as of 9 p.m. on October 7, there have been over 1.28 million mainland Chinese visitors to Hong Kong, an increase of about 5.7% compared to the approximately 1.216 million visitors during last year's 7-day National Day holiday.
Legislator Chan Kai-fai, who represents the wholesale and retail sectors in the Hong Kong Legislative Council, stated that during the long holiday period, mainland Chinese visitors mainly gathered in traditional tourist areas such as Tsim Sha Tsui. Sales of classic popular categories such as cosmetics and luxury goods have shown impressive performance, significantly higher than the same period last year, with many industry merchants reporting double-digit growth in business.
Chairman of the Hong Kong Catering Industry Association, Yeung Chun-yan, remarked that the overall consumption atmosphere in Hong Kong was good during the long holiday period, with a high concentration of visitors on National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival, while the rest of the holiday days maintained a dispersed flow of visitors. Overall business volume was basically flat compared to the same period last year, but restaurant reservation rates stood out, showing an increase of 10-20% compared to a regular weekend.
