Powering the Future: Suzlon Secures Massive Wind Order from Tata Power
Suzlon Group has secured a landmark 838 MW wind order from Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited. This contract represents Suzlon's largest order of fiscal year 2026 and its second-largest ever, following a 1,544 MW deal with NTPC Green Energy. The agreement highlights the growing significance of Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) projects in India's energy transition.
The new project will involve the deployment of 266 of Suzlon's S144 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3.15 MW. These turbines will be strategically placed across three states: Karnataka (302 MW), Maharashtra (271 MW), and Tamil Nadu (265 MW). This is the third repeat order from TPREL, underscoring a long-standing partnership between the two companies.
The collaboration is a key step in TPREL's strategic goal to achieve 100% clean power by 2045. By leveraging Suzlon's advanced "Made in India" technology, the project aims to deliver reliable, round-the-clock clean energy that reduces reliance on thermal backup.
According to Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon, the deal showcases the role of domestic wind technology in building scalable and cost-efficient energy solutions. JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon, added that TPREL's high standards are pushing the industry to deliver wind power as a core component of a 24/7 renewable energy mix. Following the announcement, shares of both companies saw a positive reaction, with Tata Power rising more than 2% and Suzlon gaining over 1% on the BSE.
