Ambassador Wang Dijie: There is strong complementarity between China and Canada in the field of trade and economy, as well as in the energy sector. This includes not only traditional energy, but also clean energy. In the traditional energy sector, my colleagues have informed me that in March alone, China imported over 7.3 million barrels of crude oil from Canada. Additionally, Canadian friends have told me that after the completion of the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion Project last year, almost half of the increased production is sold to China. China is an important energy importing country in the world, while Canada is a key energy producer. However, among China's energy importing partners, Canada ranks relatively low. If Canadian energy products have sufficient market competitiveness, China is certainly willing to import energy from Canada. There is great potential for cooperation in this area between the two countries.
