Apple announced that the new version of Siri AI will not be featured in iOS 27 in the EU due to disagreements over DMA regulation. The timeline for its launch is still uncertain.
Apple announced on June 8th local time that the new Siri AI will be released with iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, but due to the impact of the Digital Markets Act, EU users will not be able to use this feature on their iPhones and iPads. watchOS 27 will also be affected. EU users can access Siri AI on macOS 27 and visionOS 27. Apple's Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, stated that Apple has submitted multiple solutions to EU regulatory agencies over the past few months, all of which have been rejected by the European Commission. There is currently no timetable for the launch of Siri AI on iOS and iPadOS in the EU. Apple has pointed out that EU regulatory agencies require Apple to grant almost unlimited access to any third-party AI system to users' devices, including reading and writing messages, making purchases, accessing files, and cross-app operations. Apple believes that this will pose significant risks to user privacy and security.
