The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations released a report on November 14 stating that over the past 33 years, the global agricultural sector has suffered cumulative losses of $3.26 trillion due to natural disasters, with an average annual loss of approximately $99 billion. The report shows that disasters have led to the loss of 4.6 billion tons of grains, 2.8 billion tons of fruits and vegetables, and 900 million tons of meat and dairy products globally.
