The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs held a national field meeting on promoting the revitalization of the seed industry in Changsha on November 13. Zhang Xingwang, member of the Party Group of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Deputy Minister, and Chen Jing, Deputy Governor of Hunan Province, attended and delivered speeches. The meeting summarized the progress and effectiveness of the seed industry revitalization action over the past five years, and discussed the key tasks for the in-depth implementation of the seed industry revitalization action during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. It emphasized the need to enhance the sense of responsibility and urgency for the in-depth implementation of the seed industry revitalization action, concentrate efforts on solving problems, addressing weaknesses, strengthening advantages, and controlling risks, promoting high-quality development of the seed industry during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, and accelerating the realization of self-reliance and controllability in seed industry technology and sources. It called for speeding up the precise identification of germplasm resources, vigorously promoting the germplasm resources improvement plan, formulating and implementing the "14th Five-Year Plan" for modern seed industry improvement projects, cultivating and promoting breakthrough varieties urgently needed for production, strengthening the cultivation of seed industry enterprises, building national seed breeding bases to high standards, strictly protecting seed industry intellectual property rights, enhancing agricultural and biosafety technology security measures, and ensuring the bottom line of seed industry safety.
