Apple's appeal against the competition tribunal's rejection of the antitrust ruling has been rejected by the UK Court of Appeal.
The Competition Appeal Tribunal in the UK on Thursday rejected Apple's appeal against a previous ruling that found the company had abused its dominant market position. The Competition Appeal Tribunal ruled last month that Apple had charged excessively and unfairly high fees in the app market, constituting an abuse of market dominance. This ruling could potentially result in Apple facing over 1 billion pounds in fines. Although the Competition Appeal Tribunal rejected Apple's appeal, the company can still appeal directly to the UK Court of Appeal. An Apple spokesperson stated that the company will take further action and emphasized that the ruling has a misleading understanding of the thriving app economy, ignoring the benefits Apple brings to developers and consumers.
