The British Broadcasting Corporation apologized to former President Donald Trump for editing a documentary in a way that misled viewers about his speech on the day of the Capitol riot in 2021. However, they refused Trump's request for compensation. A spokesperson for the BBC said that the company's lawyers have responded in writing to a letter from Trump's legal team received on the 9th, and the Chairman of the Board, Samir Shah, has personally written to the White House to apologize to Trump for editing his speech. The BBC will no longer rebroadcast this documentary on any of its platforms. The spokesperson said, "Although we regret the editing of the video clips, we firmly believe that there is no basis for a defamation lawsuit."
