The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States reported on the 11th that the number of cases of infant botulism reported in multiple states in the United States is still increasing, possibly related to the consumption of infant formula contaminated with botulinum toxin. The company implicated in the incident announced a comprehensive recall of the related powdered formula products on the 11th. According to the report, as of the 10th, there have been 15 suspected or confirmed cases of infant botulism reported in 12 states across the United States. All affected children had consumed "full-nutrition infant formula" manufactured by the US infant formula maker Abbott. The onset of illness in affected children occurred between early to mid-August and early to mid-November, with ages ranging from 16 days to 157 days. All affected children have been hospitalized and received treatment with infant botulism immune globulin intravenous injection, and there have been no reports of deaths.
