Goldman Sachs: Assuming the U.S. government shutdown ends this week, the October employment report is expected to be released at the beginning of next week.
Goldman Sachs economists Elsie Peng and Ronnie Walker said in a report, "The US federal government shutdown has delayed the release of almost all federal economic data for September and October. Although the government shutdown appears to be coming to an end, statistical agencies need time to process the backlog of data." Goldman Sachs predicts that if the US government reopens before this weekend, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics will release the latest employment data for October early next week, but other major data releases are expected to be delayed. Goldman Sachs said this means that the November employment report and inflation report may be "delayed by at least one week."
